National Institute for Research in Tuberculosis (ICMR)

Applications are invited for a post of Junior Research Fellow (JRF) in DBTRamalingaswami Fellow research project funded by Department of Biotechnology under the guidance of Dr. B. Ramalingam, Department of Immunology, National Institute for Research in Tuberculosis (ICMR) Chetpet, Chennai. The project involves isolation of monocyte subsets by multicolour flowcytometry from normal healthy volunteers and Tuberculosis patients and to study their molecular transcriptomic and gene expression profile in order to identify the biomarkers for protection against TB. The selected candidate will be eligible to pursue their PhD degree from the University of Madras.

Project title: “Molecular analysis of monocyte subsets in humans infected with Mycobacterium tuberculosis”

Qualification and experience: The candidates should have a Master's degree with at least 60% aggregate marks or or 6.5 CGPA (in a 10-point scale) in appropriate discipline with consistently good academic record in any branch of life Sciences from a UGCrecognised University. Candidates who have qualified for Junior Research fellowship (CSIR/UGC -JRF or ICMR-JRF or DBT or DST-INSPIRE fellowship) are encouraged to apply. Previous research experience in flowcytometry and molecular biology will be an added advantage. Candidates should possess strong oral and written communication skills.
