Educational Qualification:

Scientist - F (Mechanical)	Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Technology in the relevant subject from a recognized University or its equivalent with at least first Class (60% marks) in the qualifying degree level + Sixteen years experience in Research and Development, Survey, Planning, Administration, Supervision or training, etc., in the general field of ocean technology & engineering.
Scientist - F (Life Science)	Master’s degree in Life Science in marine biology, biotechnology, environmental science from a recognized University / National Laboratories or its equivalent with at least First Class (60% marks) in the qualifying degree level + Sixteen years experience in Research and Development, Survey, Planning, Administration, Supervision or training, etc., in any of the field of environmental science and engineering, marine biotechnology, cage culture of fishes, coastal ecosystems, climate change.
Scientist - D (Civil)	: Bachelor’s degree in Civil / Structural / Ocean Engineering or Technology in the relevant subject from a recognized University or its equivalent with at least First Class (60% marks) in the qualifying degree level + Seven years experience in Research and Development, Survey, Planning, Administration, Supervision or training, etc., in any of the areas of ocean technology or engineering like offshore structure design and implementation, coastal protection, port and harbor engineering, environmental engineering.
Scientist - B (Civil)	Essential: Bachelor’s degree in Civil / Structural / Ocean Engineering or Technology in the relevant subject from a recognized University or its equivalent with at least First Class (60% marks) in the qualifying degree level. Desirable: Master’s degree in Civil / Structural / Ocean Engineering / Soil or Foundation Engineering or equivalent from a recognized University / Institute.

No Maximum Age limit for applicants belonging to Scheduled Castes / Scheduled Castes (Arunthathiyar), Scheduled Tribes, Most Backward Classes / Denotified Communities, Backward Classes, Backward Classes (Muslims) and Destitute Widows of all categories who possess a Educational qualification higher than the Minimum General Educational qualification. For this purpose, a pass in the Pre-University Examination/Higher Secondary Course and above will be deemed to be a qualification higher than the Minimum General Educational qualification.

Note:

(i) “Others” [i.e Applicants not belonging to SCs, SC(A)s, STs, MBCs/DCs, BCs and BCMs] who have put in five years and more of service in the State/Central Government are not eligible even if they are within the age limit.

Explanation: No maximum age limit shall mean that the applicants should not have completed 58 years of age either on the date of notification or at the time of selection / appointment to the post.

(i) Age Concession for Differently Abled Persons having Minimum General Educational Qualification: Differently Abled Persons are eligible for age concession upto 10 years over and above the maximumage limit prescribed above.

(ii) Age Concession for Ex-servicemen having Minimum General Educational Qualification:

(a) The maximum age limit is 53 years for applicants belonging to SCs, SC(A)s, STs, MBCs/DCs, BCs (Other than Muslims) and BCMs.

The Upper age limit is relaxed by 5 years for SC/ST; 3 years for OBC, 10 Years for Persons with Disabilities (15 years for SC/ST PWD’s & 13 years for OBC PWD’s) and for Ex-S as per Govt. of India rules.
