The Indian Institute of Science And Research Thiruvananthapuram (IISER-TVM) is dedicated to scientific research and science education of international standards. Traditionally, teaching has been segregated from research in undergraduate science curricula in our country. IISERs were established by the Ministry of Human Resources Development, Government of India, to bridge this dichotomy. IISER-TVM started functioning in August 2008.The institute aims to provide high quality education in modern science, integrating it with outstanding research cutting across disciplines. The faculties are engaged in research in the frontier areas of basic sciences, with a high degree of autonomy and creativity. The institute has a library aims to be one of the leading state - of -the-art libraries, and is fast developing with its rich collection (print and digital), IT infrastructure and innovative information services. To assist in providing excellent services to the institute’s user community, the library is looking for young, dynamic, tech-savvy, highly motivated and committed fresh Graduates in Library & Information Science/Documentation or equivalent from recognized Indian universities to serve as Library Information Assistant Trainees purely on a temporary basis for one year.

Library at the Institute is fully computerized, subscribes to major e-resources and provides network based information services. It is kept open for longer hours on weekdays, weekends, holidays and during vacations. The essential requirements and other details for this position are as given below:

Essential Qualifications & other requirements:

Bachelor’s/Master’s Degree in Library & Information Science / documentation or equivalent
Sound working knowledge of basic IT tools
Good communication (written & oral) skills in English
Strong interpersonal & intrapersonal skills

Nature of traineeship: Trainees will be provided with an opportunity to work in different sections of the library and learn modern library management techniques and web based services. The Library will provide a highly professional working & learning environment. The selected candidates will have ample opportunities to work and learn on emerging IT tools and technologies. Above all, selected candidates will have an opportunity to interact and serve a highly talented & serious user community

Number of Vacancies: Two (Unreserved)

Age Limit: 28 years as on 01/10/ 2015

Stipend:
For BLISc Candidates - Rs 13,000/- per month.
For MLISc Candidates - Rs 15,000/- per month.

Duration: The duration of traineeship will be for one year.

The selected candidates should be ready to work in weekends / holidays and in different shifts on rotation basis, as per requirements.

Interested candidates who meet the above mentioned basic requirements may attend the written test cum interview on 29.10.2015. The written test will be in English.

Candidates who have appeared for their final year examination and are expecting the results must produce the final mark sheet at the time of test & interview, in proof of them having passed the examination.

No facility towards transport and accommodation will be provided by the Institute to the selected candidates.
